reopening victor falls trails
Now that cascadia isn't develping land for housing because of the bad economy do you think that they could be convinced to reopen the victor falls trails so that volunters can rebuild the trails and people can ride them again?
And if a plan was put into motion would anyone be willing to volunter their time?

I would like nothing more than to be able to ride those trails again but I do not think that will be an option.

Instead, how about Mt. Pete (or Mt. Peak or Pinnacle Peak) in Enumclaw? King County recently purchased a substantial fraction of this 1000-ft hill and is planning to develop the parking area on the west side. KC is apparently developing a plan for use and mtb trails are a real possibility. Currently a gravel road provides rapid elevation gain to within a couple hundred feet of the summit, where the standard hiking trail intersects a jeep track. At 1800 feet, Mt. Pete remains snowless throughout most of the winter. There is real potential here, and mtb trails wouldn't be threatened by future development. I'm no trail builder but I can take instruction and would gladly donate time.

Pope, your motion of thought does more for me than thinking about reviving Victor Falls from the abyss.
If you do any follow up, keep us posted.

This would be cool.

I would love it if Victor Falls re-opened. I wonder if the Tree Farm owner/s know anything.
There's also a bunch of land in Auburn - east of Game Farm Park off of Stuck River Dr. I've heard it goes along the river all the way to Buckley. Tons of land, some trails are already there. Some of it is owned by the City w/posted No Trespassing and some of it is owned by the Muckleshoot Tribe. Auburn is VERY park friendly, so possibly with the right proposal it could be made into a mountain bike/day hike trail system?

Having ridden at Victor since the mid 80s I would really love to see it reopen too. I have not been up there since it closed a few years ago except to buy a tree each Christmas.
I would be more than eager to help rebuild the trails if it were possible. Too bad STM is no longer around.

All that trail gone and Cascadia's big development stops in it's tracks...
Makes me want to cry. What a waste.

Wow, that's crazy. They had finally actually started doing some building and road work.

No interest in Auburn, as I mentioned in my earlier post? The land is there and it's not going to be developed...
As much as I loved Victor Falls, we all know it'll one day be houses. It's only a matter of time. :-(

J_Hopper, some of my buddies have done some work in that zone. Send me a PM if you want more info.

I don't mean to revive an old thread, but I've been told that the City of Auburn removed the no-trespassing signs from the area I described in an earlier post (east of Game Farm Park off of Stuck River Dr). My sources told me that the City wants to treat it more as a park area and does not want to discourage equestrian use.

To what degree did Cascadia get in terms of developing the Victor plot ?

This would be great if trails could be made there.
I live in Auburn, not to far from Game Farm.

I know there are already some trails there and I know EBextreme's friend has built some them. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I know there was a problem with homeless people living in the area, but the City moved them all out and cleaned up the mess left behind (from what I've heard).
If anyone gets a chance, go check it out and let us know what you find.

Maybe you should change/start a new thread called Trails in Auburn? or Gamefarm Park?
I'm just sayin'....

I see in todays Tribune, that the entire parcel is up for auction. What could this mean? Most likley nothing, but it would sure be fun to get back there again. I have been very good and other than buying my Christmas tree I have not been back since the closure.

I still ride with my kids there once in a while. Nothing exciting and the only draw is it is close to home. Mainly the east side of road. There can be some good mushroom hunting there this time of year. Nobody ever bothers us and all Cascadia equipment is long gone leaving behing a weird incomplete wasteland of development to be. Kinda the opposite of riding Seatac.
