New question here. Question about Indie Series

Looking at their website (http://indieseries.com/) it seems like the 2010 season only had half the number of races as the previous three years. I will be moving to the seattle area in the next month and was looking at what xc races are available and noticed this. Is the series dying, or was 2010 just a down year? Also, what other xc races should I check out in WA?

    Thanks

This was a just an off-year for the Indie Series, as there was a promoter change and many venues were lost. However, the series is supposed to include at least six races next year. There are still some upcoming XC races independent of the series, however. Coming up on August 14th and 15th is the Capitol Forest Classic weekend. Excellent XC and Super D racing, plus food and raffle, with all entry fees going directly to trail maintainence in Capitol Forest. Check it out: http://focfracing.wordpress.com/

There will be a 50/100 miles race in Capitol Forest on September 11th as well. http://www.capitolforest100.com/

Also, there is the Lost in the Woods races at Gibbs Lake and Anderson Lake

Oh okay. Good to know the series is still alive. Unfortunately I won't be out in the area for the 14th and 15th. Any XC races in september that you know of besides the 50/100 miler in the Capitol Forest?

There's a 55 mile one in Oakridge OR in Sept. Otherwise pretty much just cross racing that time of year.

Actually the XC racing seems pretty weak in the Seattle area. Lots of short courses and way too much focus on early season. For more interesting races, look to OR and BC. Though for WA events, the Capitol Forest classic was really fun last year, it had a great course last year, and I'd highly recommend that. The 50/100 down there should be good as well.
