    Overheard @ Duthie this weekend...

Who builds this stuff? Itís just so masochistic... even sadistic. And why would anyone want to dress up like a Power Ranger in the woods anyway. Really. Why?

    Masochistic... True
    Sadistic... Sometimes

If they have to ask why, they'll never understand.

Ya gotta admit that some of those DH outfits are almost as bad as a Briko weight weenie dirt roadie in their bike paint matching "kit"...

But, I do like the "bring the pain" theme some who just don't understand see.

The real question is what the hell were they doing there?

I often joke with my brother in law (who's my normal riding buddy) that he looks like a knight going into battle when he rides. Looks insanely uncomfortable and not fun to wear at all, but if it makes him feel safe doing something that really isn't safe, so be it.

I brought her to see what her Dad does with his spare time

Fortunately the commitment papers have yet to be filed, mostly because I don't have a Power Ranger outfit yet.

Reminds me of one time with my wife and I walking along the Seattle Waterfront. Some boys (age 15 or so) were preparing to jump the water from a second story platform. She said (quietly), boys sure like to be stupid at times, and rolled her eyes. I motioned for us to move along, and she said, "wait, I want to watch them jump in."

Clearly, at least some women do enjoy watching men do sadistic or masochistic things, even when they complain.

Oh it starts veeeery early. My extremely cautious 1st grader has displayed a consistent pattern of befriending the wildest boys she could locate since she was a toddler. They perform. She laughs her head off. And it all just goes downhill from there for the boys, while she remains injury-free and out of trouble.

I ask her dad what's going on with this, and he says "I don't know!".... cackling like a madman....

I'm still puzzled over how road riding is widely accepted as 'safer' than MTB though. Having fallen on both dirt and pavement at high speeds, I know which one I prefer! No power ranger suit required....

Many people were also saying "When is the beer tent going to open?".
