Mt. St. Helens/Smith Crk. Maps & Directions Needed

I rode Mt. St. Helens in 2010 with a couple friends and a great guy named Charlie that showed us the route.
It was one of the best rides I've ever done. I plan on being back there mid September with a couple other friends and I was hoping someone could point me to a map of the route we took.
I remember we started in a small parking lot, that's where the ride finished. I don't remember where we caught the trailhead that took us to Plains Of Abraham, Ape Cyn and past Spirit lake. I remember the trail for Smith dropped off to the right and was a really fun loose pumice downhill.
Anyway, any directions on the trail route would be greatly appreciated.
If you want to join us, let me know and I'll let you know when we should be there!
    Thanks
    WWXD.

You can find trail info at evergreenmtb.org and maps at greentrailsmaps.com(MOUNT ST.HELENS, WA-NO 364 and SPIRIT LAKE, WA - NO 332) Green trails maps are also sold in sporting goods stores all over Washington state.

Yep. Did that loop a few weeks ago. Easy navigation- make sure to find the "shortcut trail" which is easy to find using the evergreen page.

FWIW, friends and I all agreed that we probably wouldn't do that particular route again. Instead we'd do OAB on plans of Abe, either from Windy Ridge or ape canyon. Main reason would be more quality time in the scenic planes part of the ride.

    Evergreen Trails page

The link for the trail from Evergreen site that was mentioned earlier is Trail:Smith Creek - Evergreen Trail Guide. The start that DirtMistress was referring to is from Ape Canyon Trailhead on that page, not the Smith Creek Trailhead, which is almost 2 hours drive difference so you will want to get it right

Love the photo FM. I know exactly where that was taken, but never as beautiful as in your photo.

Great shot! I think I remember that also. We crossed the log I think. Man I love that ride.
People talk about doing the ride as an out and back. They go up to Plains and turn around and bomb back down, right?

One of my favorites shots I got on our ride.

Sounds like loads of fun Liz. Wish I could join you up there. I'll be in the Spokane area late October and will be looking to do some riding while I'm there. Have fun!
