Looking to move to the Mount Vernon area

We want to live somewhere with about 300 days of sun and very little rain(just joking we live there now). We are looking for a change of scenery. I get antsy when I live somewhere for too long. I'll be flying out to Seattle and driving up to Mount Vernon for a second interview at a job. If all goes well we might move out. We live on the front range of Colorado right now. I would be moving with my wife 2 kids, and 3 dogs.

If you look at livability sites they make it sound like there is anarchy in the streets with horrible crime rate just about everywhere in Seattle and north along the coast.

We are looking for good food, restaurants, culture, great outdoors activities, and fun for the family.

Right now I've looked at Mount Vernon, Bellingham, Anacortes, Stanwood, Oak Harbor, Arlington, Marysville, Burlington, Sedro-Woolly, Sudden Valley.

Looking for a family friendly place, with good schools, mountain bike trails, motorcycle riding, access to sea kayaking, maybe a good farmers market etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Anacortes or Bellingham. If u like to catch air then Bellingham. If ur ok with strictly XC riding from ur garage then Anacortes.

Bellingham, hands down. As long as you are OK with 65 days of sun and lot's of rain.

Is anacortes in the rain shadow? And how does the refineries affect life there?

Solid trail community building their own future. Not bham or Anacortes but great community with build days every other Saturday except summer ride time.

On build days debrief at the Porterhouse with free fries for builders and boundary bay IPA is always on tap. Clam chowder with shells! (And great specials)

Historical note JT built Kung Fu Theatre at Galbraith/BHam.

Its only 15 miles to both Anacortes and Galbraith!

Thanks for the info. I'm flying out with my family in a week and a half to check out the area and talk about my possible new job.
