The saddle of DG is around 4700', not much higher than the base elev of mission ridge....

The mid cam at Mission Ridge ski area is a pretty good metric of the top parts of DG and MR trails. I suspect the lower DG trail itself is ok, except for high water crossings on Mission Creek. I have seen at least one ride on Strava in the last month (19 April I think) of someone doing No. 2 Canyon to Peavine and then up and around Red Devil and Red Hill, so that lower part is accessible.

Had a friend who drove to the DG upper TH but said it was socked in with snow about a week ago. I sense the upper reaches are still covered, as DRS said.

Moto's from the bottom reported massive washout's in the creeks and many tree's down.

One group made it to the X cross over of the figure 8 point but did not have a good time with all the blow downs.

    Re: leavenworth trail condition updates

We west siders have left this saw work to the motos who have power and even more range than we on pedal bikes do. My hope is memorial weekend the moto saws get this.

If we can add value happy to contribute

So on a related note. Since freund is closed right now is the best near town option taking the usual Freund climb up and then coming down rosy boa to ski hill? Haven't been down that way before and can't find much info. Any fun?
    Thanks!

Yes. It is fun. Beware that it is far more challenging than the now destroyed Freund DH. More like Xanadu-Lite.

They are doing a forest thinning due to disease and fire danger. The contract required access that meant they needed the old roadbed used for the Freund DH trail. They rebuilt it as a road. More here:

    Re: leavenworth trail condition updates

I called USFS Leavenworth asking about DG/MR and learned the motos have cleared DG all the way to the road and Lower MR from the intersection with DG.

Upper MR is still a work in progress.

Also the motos can't help us on the trail up to Marion lake that pops out on the road so we should probably roll a saw team down that. I was told may still be snowed in up there. If you have anything to share I'm willing to come over if there is a need. I may come over and have a look for myself...

thanks for all the info, lee and I are heading to leavenworth next weekend. I was looking into this ride as our short sunday ride.

So is Rosy Boa on this map?

Is Rosy Boa the trail off the Fruend DH heading to Ranger Rd?

Or can anyone suggest another short ride in this area.

Rosie Boa would be on that map if it were indicated.

Here is a map where it shows up.

Rosie Boa is the trail along the ridge above the Freund DH trail (now a full logging road). You can access it from Ranger Road to the south or from the Freund Trail from the north and the east end of Rosie Boa connects with the new Ski Hill connector trail.

We parked at the bottom of freund in the usual location. Climbed the freund uphill and start going down the freund downhill. Turn right once you pass the two stream crossings. At the bottom of rosy boa (the lookout with a bench) you can take a right and go down ski hill or go left and use the connector trail to get back to the road that used to be freund dh. That will take you back to the car. I think it's about 9 miles. There are a couple really washed out sandy spots that will throw you on your face if you aren't careful. They are pretty obvious.
