Nice. It's about time the "skiing" analogy was applied to even banked/bermed turns. I've been saying that for years. As we can see, it's also very viable for flat and off camber as well. Now, if we can add the upper body angulation to that as well.... (Driving the knobs "down" into the dirt instead of sideways and out.) And, pressuring early and powering late. Just like driving a car. Thanks for the post up Mike.

Here's another with Stepitup and Braveheart. It's a couple months old but I hadn't seen it posted yet.

Its sweet to see a lot of hard trail work getting shown off in a vid. Sure StepItUp is as wide as highway but if you ride it with some speed it becomes a different animal.

Simon has definitely brought my cornering up a notch. The problem I have now is my sidewalls are getting shredded from cornering hard. No joke. If you have the chance to take a class with him you won't be dissapointed. I like the nsmb idea of rotating the body like a screw.

One thing that is a baseline in ski/snowboard instruction (which I know a little about) which completely applies here is the TID bit. (Timing, Intensity, and Duration) Seems to be the one thing or things that people always seem to struggle with. There's a big difference in the quality of riding in first video and the second video posted here and that is the usual culprit. Let's just say brake checking three quarters of the way through the turn isn't the preferred method.

I think they just do that for the cameras. Skidding looks better than carving turns in slow motion.

Yup, been that way forever. Wish the trend would change on that, people who understand riding and trail building would certainly appreciate riders being showcased for their smoothness. Lots of new riders coming up that are impressionable.

Would make life easier for everybody.

As made famous by The Collective et al. Slo-mo flying dirt sells DVD's. But everyone should just know that's bad they shouldn't do it unless in a movie; especially teenagers!

haha yah well ya can't expect a majority of teenagers to get the memo.

i know we spent lots of time in routing and flow/drainage, re-building with better dirt etc to minimize wear. But sustainability doesn't mean invulnerability.

Videos like these hopefully sink in.

Jeez...you gotta be kidding me! I've ridden behind you on Golden Spike. No skidding, but definitely deep in the NW-Crested-Newt-killing-rut-n-muck!

SKIDS WIN RACES!! Better get that on the Diamondback jerseys for next year. Follow them through some turns, Borneo. You may see them for the first two.
