    How about Capital Forest?

In the 70's ponies ,hikers and off roaders cooperated and created what we have now in the form of CP.

If logic ruled our trails, steel hooved 1200 pound rototillers would have little access.

But it does not, politics and influence is the name of the game. The time of working with Weyerhaeuser and the desire to have fun for all is gone.

Now with DNR and who influences there rule making wins, who decides at KC is in someone elses pocket.

Really appreciate the background and insight in this thread. I ride GR a few times a week - but have only encountered a horse once since I moved here 2 years ago. Dogs all the time, but not horses (or bears for that matter). I typically ride dawn patrol or early evening coming from Duthie, so maybe I miss the ponies as a result. I don't seem to see the horse crap that folks are mentioning, but I've been in this new zone lately and just focused on the ride.

I'm a believer in sharing the trail, but agree all the users should do their part to help maintain. I usually don't attend the work parties, but I never hesitate to jump off the bike and haul brush out of the way, pack out trash and busted components from d-heads that leave things behind, etc.

It's a great trail and we're fortunate to have such easy access.
