Classroom will be Sat 5/18 from 9am to noon in Winthrop. Then we head to Sun Mountain for the work party from 1pm to 6. Project: re-route a segment of trail that has some eroding fall-line and uses a logging road. Solution: sustainable singletrack!

We'll come back to the work site on Sunday morning for anyone who can't make Sat pm or for those who feel like doing some more work. Then ride somewhere Sunday afternoon.

    Going to be fun!

Sunny in the Methow this weekend

The weekend forecast says rain in Seattle but mostly sunny in the Methow Valley! Last chance to join us for the Evergreen Methow Chapter Trail School.

Details and sign-up here: Evergreen MTB Calendar.

Sat am classroom session. Sat pm trail project: re-route the Black Bear Trail at Sun Mountain.
On Sunday am we'll wrap up trail work then head out for an afternoon ride.

I'll be staying at the Virginian with Julie. Plenty of reasonably priced places to stay and campgrounds available.

Ooooh, the Virginian. Nice little place outside town and you can trail ride right there from the trail post work party! (You'll have to flip for who has to drive back.) Make sure to have breakfast or dinner on the veranda at the Duck Brand though. The section to be worked on has a great north view of the mountains and is very scenic. This is a great addition to that area. Thanks!

If yer old school, you'll ride up the Winthrop trail from town to the workparty, haha

Blackbear is a fun ride and a nice view.

Beauty! Any recommendations for the SLOTH-iest route on Buck Mt? (Slow Lazy Old Tired and Healing). Easy singletrack climb preferable. Otherwise road climb to fun descent. The knee still complains during tough climbs and after 2 days of work parties + a ride somewhere else on Sunday, I'll be looking for something pretty easy on Monday. Thanks!

Do you mean Blue Buck? As in Starvation? I think you can get a shuttle to the top from the Virginian. Inquire within. Otherwise Rader Creek and then along the lake and back down through Black Bear is fin at Sun Mountain. Methow River trail is worthy as well. IF it's damp/cool and the rattlers are down, Pipestone Canyon is fun. (Not everything up there is on the map so grab a local.)
