Duthie: I'm missing that little bell gadget that was on the Great Space Coaster line

Whatever happened to that little bell that was actuated by a stick on the last wooden coaster of the Space Coaster line? It was so whimsical, I laughed out loud every time I hit it. Made an already really fun trail even more fun. Only saw it right after the line opened, then it went away. Wish it would come back. I was missing it today.

A teeter would sure be a great addition to the line too, but I guess liability issues kill teeter totters on public lands for some reason. Would be the pièce de résistance. Oh well... sigh.

Too funny, I was out there today checking out the bell situation.
The original cowbell disappeared, bell #2 is courtesy of muttonchops. It's still there at the space coaster party spot. I have been stumped as to how to "ring the bell" without introducing safety/liability factors that probably wouldn't swing with the powers that be. Story of my life LOL.

Anyways- consider the space coaster party staff notified of an improvement opportunity.
    Happy holidays!

Cool. Thanks for the pic. And for looking into it too . Love the line every time I ride it, by the way. Great build.

Happy to help brainstorm design ideas that might work (and pass muster with Mike). Not a biggie of course, but anything that makes you laugh out loud when you're riding a bike is worth at least a little effort to resuscitate.

    Definitely open to ideas!

I'm thinking the next thing to try would be a sort of flexible lever, sticking1-2" through the rungs on the backsides of one of the rollers. Something malleable (maybe nylon) so it wouldn't pose a safety risk. The bell could be suspended off the other end of the lever, underneath the coaster.

It's the Black Diamond trail option on the left side of the DH section of the Bootcamp trail, just a bit after you pass the right side entrance to the Deuces Wild dual slalom track. As you ride South up the main road from the clearing (heading towards Grand Ridge or the top of Bootcamp), you can see some wooden features of the Great Space Coaster line on the left, as it's between the road and Bootcamp. It cuts back in to join Bootcamp at the bottom.

Lots of wooden rollercoasters - very fun! Check it out.

OK...just never heard it called spacecoaster and didn't recognize the drop in the picture. One of my favorite trails out there. Thanks

I was out there today and a fairly good size tree has fallen on the end of the long bridge with the drop off the end just before the rainbow painted roller. Needs a chain saw for removal. Hangs half way out into the road also.

Bummer! That thing is called the "future feature".
Is the future feature damaged at all?

Would you guess at the diameter of the down tree where it crosses the trail? Wondering if my saw is enough.

    Thanks for the heads up!

It's about 12inch diameter, and right on top of the end of the wooden drop feature. There's a MUCH bigger tree down across the trail from the main parking lot too, more like 24inch dia.

For some reason I can't get pic's to post in this thread. There are a couple in an album under my profile. Damage to the structure looked pretty minimal but I didn't get under it and look.

    FM, thanks for clearing it.

You must have good juju. I'd cleared another 12in tree a month ago that totally covered that same feature with branches, but the main trunk missed it by inches. Must be good line placement on your part
