    Capitol Forest Conditions?

    Things drying out?

Im thinking I might head out after work tomorrow (4/15) and hit the Wedekind Greenline Tie Green Line loop out of Fall Creek but I'm not looking for muck fest. If the lower part of Green Line is still gooey maybe an out and back on Wedekind, or some playing on Little Larch.

Anybody got a recent ride report?

Rode 26 miles on saturday and the trails are gold right now. No muck, no dust just sticky goodness. Parked at Fall Creek rode up to Wedekin down the Porter trail(my favorite) to the road, back up the road to Wedekin and back down Wedekin trail to Fall Creek. Go have some fun. It is suposed to rain tomorrow 4/15 so you should maybe hit them tonight.

Thanks for the info. Today looks great but I don't know if I can get out there. I hope the rain holds off tomorrow.

    Hi all,

I will be staying at the tribal casino the next few nights and will have my mtb and a light. I am hoping to sneak in some rides out at Capitol Forest in the evenings. I haven't been there before though. From the Shelton side, where is the closest parking area for the trails?

Some good info here: Mountain Biking Capitol Forest Capital Forest Washington NEW

Note, some of trails have changed names since those routes/maps were posted.

Updated maps here: Capitol State Forest

I usually ride from the Fall Creek trailhead. In fact, I'm thinking of heading out there today after work. Weather has been clear for a few days, trails should be good right now.

Good timing, I'm just heading out from Kitsap to ride Capitol. Doing a solo, will decide on the Porter side or the McKinney side on my drive down. Will report on conditions upon return.

McKinney, Lost Creek, Wedekind, Greenline, Green line Tie, Mima Falls, Mima Tie. About 30 miles total. There was some mud and slop in the usually places along this route, but nothing that would keep you from riding. 86 degrees when I left Olympia at 6 pm, so should be drying up quickly.

Thanks for the information! Looks like Rock Candy is the closest place for me. Anyone interested in a night ride tomorrow?

Actually it looks like rock candy isn't the best spot for mtb trails. I am going to have to do a bit more driving to get to the goods it appears. Falls Creek it is. Cheers

I don't know what type of trails you are looking for, but for a shorter after work ride I like the Wedekind - Green Line Tie - Green Line loop, about 9 miles. I hit it yesterday and conditions are great!

If I'm feeling energetic I might go play on Little Larch today after work.

    Have fun.

So I drove out and ended up parking at and sessioning the Little Larch Mtn trail. It was pretty sweet I must say. Nice trails out there!

Went out for 2 quick rips down LittleLarchMtn. It's running fast. The upper is my fave. However, it does take some scoping to get ur line dialed so u can hit the incognito jumps. Some require a pedal or few to hit, while others require a brake-check so as not to huck-to-flat. It's the closest thing to free ride/flow that Cap-Forest has to offer. Dirt is mint right now. Rain coming tomorrow, but prob not much to make a huge diff.

Friday we rode Porter all the way from four corners to Wedekind and back. Basically a steady moving 2+ hour climb and a one hour decent. The new section at the bottom is getting worked in, a newer reroute to navigate, some sections getting brushy as always on that side. The path track was in great shape.
