Walnut Creek Chimney Chase XC Race & Niner Bikes Demo
Folks, the Chimney Chase Race is this weekend at Walnut Creek.
Please see the link below for info and to sign up.
The Trails at Walnut are in amazing condition all thanks to the cooperative effort of Albemarle Country Parks and Recreation and the club. Come see why this is the best course in the state for cross country racing. All proceeds from the event are going to support CAMBC and their continued trail building and maintanance in the area!
We will not hold this event on public trails if the conditions will result in damage.
Inclement Weather will move the event to the Tevendale Farm located in Earlysville, Va. If the trails there are unridable only then will we cancel.
Special thanks to Blue Ridge Cyclery for helping CAMBC organize this event. If you have an idea for a similar event to aid CAMBC in its mission, please don't hesistate to contact myself or another CAMBC board member.

Passing this along:
Walnut Creek Race:
We are watching the weather very closely. With puddling rain Friday and rain potential Saturday afternoon and evening between 30-60% we are being cautious. ANY amount of rain tomorrow will very likely cancel the event. We will not host the race at WNC under trail damaging conditions. IF we do elect to scratch the race for Sunday, we will notify the list serve and registered racers by 8pm tomorrow.
The decision has been made not to move the race to the TevenTrails under bad weather conditions but rather to schedule another date at WNC.
If the race goes forward:
Race start time is 10am. Riders will do laps of 8-10 miles in length for the following lap counts:
Expert: 2 laps
Sport 1.5 laps
Beginner 1 lap.
Registration will be available day of and fees for the above categories will remain the same. Registration will open at 8:30am.
Additionally we will have a "Just for Fun" Category doing one lap. This category is for anyone that shows up and donates more than $5 to CAMBC. This category may or may not be timed, and will not count towards any VORS categories or prizes. You just get bragging rights and the knowledge you are helping support CAMBC in their trail advocacy, care, and construction efforts.
For Volunteers Sunday: yes, we still need them! If you have already said you can help, awesome! We need you at 8am to help with setup and get roles assigned. If you can help and have not let us know..... then PLEASE COME DO SO!! an RSVP helps for planning but last minute volunteer militia are welcome as well.
This event is a fund raiser for CAMBC and as such ALL PROCEEDS are being donated to the club so please come on out for some fun on Sunday.
After the race, we are going to fire up the grill and cook some food. We are providing some hot dogs and chicken, but please bring something to throw on the grill otherwise if you like also bring a side and drinks to your liking. (as a reminder, WNC is an Albemarle County Park and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.)
Didn't get any rain tonight at the house, looks like we're in the clear for the race.
