Trails near Frederick, Md area (best for rainy conditions)

I was all set to go to potapsco today but do to the weather I'm thinking twice. I know Schaffer farms usually closes up, but I might swing thru anyway.

Anybody know of any trails that are rain friendly in the area. I'm dead set on riding today, but don't want to tear up any trails to bad. I also wouldn't mind a little drive...maybe an hr or so

If you are near Frederick you should go to Gambrill or the Shed, both of which dry out pretty quickly. Gambrill is very well marked, not a place for the beginner though.

Greenbrier State Park is only about 20mins west of Frederick, and it's got a nice trail system that's about 95% waterproof because it's very rocky. There is nothing super-technical, but there is plenty that will test your stamina (like long climbs up babyheads). There's a race there every year, and you can do some nice loop. Not much that's flat---it's either all climbing or all downhill. Beautiful scenery though (all wooded).
29er wheels are dangerous. They may cause you to go faster which can result in serious bodily injury. óJim311
