Schaeffer Farm Trails open for riding?

I will be in Gaithersburg this weekend (2/16-18), wondering if the Schaeffer Farm trails are open? If not, what are other nearby options for SS hardtail rider?

Try the trail message line 301-924-1998.It may not be updated since hunting season. With that being said the trails are very wet with freeze-thaw cycle happening

Assuming its either frozen or well above freezing the Seneca Ridge Trail is a great ss trail.

I looked for "Seneca ridge" trail in the mtbr trail directory, didn't see it. Is it the same as " Seneca creek state park?"

    Seneca Ridge-MD | MORE-MTB

I find the trail guide on MTBR lacking, MORE is the local MTB troupe and their website lists all the trails in the area. Check it out.

Well, you can try "The conector" that conect the SF and Black Hill then try the black hill. The conector is infront of SF a little tricky but you can follow the signs. if you ride both you can hit around 15 miles.

Not to be a downer, but it's going to be a muddy mess this weekend. Your best best is to hit the trails on Sunday morning when its still below freezing (I'm headed out at 9). All the trails in the area are good for singlespeed, I'd recommend black hills, seneca ridge or greenway.

Saturday night looks like a good freeze so I think I'll give the ridge trail a try Sunday morning. Thanks for the info.

Great ride, that is one sweet trail. Can't wait to come back and do it again.
