    Rowdy Dawg 2011

Anyone have any info on the Rowdy Dawg held at Pandapas (Blacksburg, VA)? I went by East Coasters a couple weeks ago and asked about it, all they could tell me was October 30.

I still have my T-shirt from the 1992 race somewhere in a drawer. Cool to hear the race still exists. 18th in Sport if I recall.

    edit - found it!

Here's what I found after 2 seconds of googling.

Montgomery County, VA - Rowdy Dawg

And since their registration link is old,

Registration link is fixed! Come check out the Super D the day before the XC race. 1,000 foot decent down Horse Nettle to Old Farm. Photos are on the site from last year.

I'm new to the area, but rode the Super-D course (old farm trail/Gateway) yesterday. What a blast, the trail is in great shape. At $5, this has to be the best deal in racing.

It is a great price! But if you pre register for the XC the next day the Super D is FREE! That deffently is the best deal in racing.

Could anyone describe where the race will actually start? I've been all over the trail system but names still escape me. Say I'm going up old farm trail and I get to the fire road at the top, go left? right? how far?

Planning on doing the super D sat and an xc on sun, weather looks good for the weekend!

From Old Farm? At the top of the ridge, go left. Jacob's Ladder is probably your best bet to get down, so when you see it, turn right. At the bottom of Jacob's Ladder, turn left on Poverty Creek Trail, at the Forest Service Road, turn left (FS 708) and follow that until you get to the parking area. The start area is not directly on the trail network, but it's close to the end of the network farthest from 460.

Primefocus, for the Super D an Saturday just park at the old farm parking lot and start up the trail. There will be registration going on at the bottom of the trail. As far as the XC race on Sunday you can park in the field right at the start and finish line right on Rt 708 on the other side of the mtn. This is where the food and awards and everything will be. You donít want to ride over the mountain down the valley and back just to get to the start of the race. Unless you want to King Kong it.

I'll be the first to admit, that route would be well beyond a warm up by the time I made it the field. Hopefully the forecast will change (again) for Sat.
