got your message, bad news dude. After going 7months with a broken collar bone I thought my freeriding days were over man. So I sold the bike, no sooner than that happened the doc decided to do surgery "go figure right?" well $40,000 later I;m still recovery trying to get my fitness back which is taking forever. But hopefully I'll purchase another Transition by spring. Mud pond is a fun fast and flowy ride, simple yet awesome. I do though know of so cool spots around the boro that has some cool techy stuff which I can direct you to. Let me know if you need some suggestion on where to ride...

from this board I ride with regularly: -

    Hi I'm Fred,

I ride my Hifi when I do single track which I really like. When the trails are wet or the weather too bad I will ride around Lake Accotink on the CCT with my wife, then I will be riding the Iron Horse.

I live half a mile from Lake Accotink and work from home so I ride solo a lot. You can find me at Wakefield two or three times a week and near the railroad tracks at Accotink once or twice a week weather and mosquitoes permitting. If the mosquitoes are too bad by the railroad tracks I often ride the boy scout trail.

In wet and crappy weather or just when I ride with my wife we will do the loop around Lake Accotink. When the sun is low the lake can be very pretty.

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and have ridden road bikes for years. Last summer I went out to Colorado and got to do some XC biking and some DH on the Steamboat ski slopes and came back desperate for more. If you have any suggestions about where to go, what to do, how to learn, etc. please send them my way. I'm loving the transition to off road riding so far.

We have a couple local trails, nothing to travel here for. The tow path is nearby for flat cruising along the river. The best riding is in the water shed and up in Sleepy Creek.

    Harry,
First, welcome. Second, cut out the bling and spend the cash on some big wear. Third hook up with the evma.org and check out the trails that we maintain and ride. You will be surprised what is available between Williamsburg and the Peninsula. Good Luck!!!

Sorry, meant bike wear. I started out riding in jeans and work boots long ago. The comfort level really changes when you move on to mountain bike baggies or winter tights depending on the temps outside.

I used to live in Nebraska and would ride year 'round. Winters could be a ***** there so, needless to say, I dressed in some quite heavy wear. Not so bad here though. I have lightened up on what I wear in the winter. But I still wear the jeans and relative warm coat. Summer is a different story though as I do have shorts and my Merrill shoes.

I am just more comfortable that way.

new to MTB but have been riding road for the past few years on an 03 litespeed vela custom build. Rode BMX everyday when i was younger, but then got in to cars and lost interest in bikes until i built up that roadie a few years ago and fell back in love with pedaling.
i just got myself a 2011 Felt Virtue Sport(good friend of mine and i got awesome deals on them). ive only really done one real trail ride and it RULES! i cant wait to ride again. gonna get some shoes and pedals first thing for it and then just ride ride ride!

rode LR, but thats it. look forward to Potap and some others that ive heard great things about.

dont know anyone on here that i know of but look forward to seeing you all out on the trail!

Dude. The 'Burg has amazing trails. All require a pretty decent dirt road climb to get any downhill. Your Marin would probably be sweet on the rock gnar, though.

Go to Mark's Bike Shop and buy a National Geographic map, and get Chris Michaels to show you a loop.

Only spot I know of are the trails on the Third Battle of Winchester Park. Its mostly dry but there are a couple bad mucky spots. It has gravel/paved with some nice single track in the woods.

Shingletree is shweet. Often overlooked with Slaty to the south and Davis up north, but a great ride in the middle. Bonus: Chicken cachapas at El Gran Sabor afterwards. Suppose you know Joey, eh? Tell him davis (formerly of Slatyfork) said hi!

    Hmm. Well okay.

My name is Dwayne and I live in Western Maryland. I ride a 2 month old Windsor Cliff 4900 that I bought on BD. You probably won't see me because I mostly ride on old fire and logging trails here by the house and I never see anybody else out there, but if you wanna hook up for a ride I'd be happy to meet up. I'm pretty new, so I hang out in the beginners forum.

Sandy Bottom is open to bikes. There is a fire road that parallels the Interstate that will take you almost to Harpersville road.
