Over and Back in the Blue Ridge

We did a fundraiser ride for a very ill riding buddy and his family Saturday.

We started at Camp Bethel on some private label stuff, a dozen of us

    Some mud

    Some open fields

    Some Forest Service road

    As usual, lots of climbing.

Black Horse Gap on the Botetourt county side

    Rhodo’s coming in

Several miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway

    Dropping down onto Dody Ridge

    Off the side

    Regrouping at Day Creek

Climb#2, Black Horse Gap on the Bedford County side

Site of the Black Horse Tavern in days gone by

    Unusual bug, bright shoes

Cold and foggy for BRP ride#2

    Oh yea

    Out the bottom

    Almost home

Back at Camp Bethel. A great ride, followed by ribs and brews, helping a brother out too.

    Pedaling when it's dry
    And paddling when it's wet

You are quite welcome. I enjoy your blog, paddling and pedaling are two of my favorite passions. Some unplanned down time has kept me from both for the last 3 weeks and probably at least one more week. It has been tough watching folks paddle by my house. When my body is ready though I will be fired up for floating and riding.

I visit the Roanoke area quite often from Greensboro. Been doing alot of riding at Carvins and Dragons back and skimmed Price mtn. once. I saw these posts and did some riding in this area here. In my opinion, this is some of the best trails around. Most fun I've had yet! Thanks CCR for posting!

For sure the BRP area north of Roanoke has some of the best riding in the area. All kinds of loops can be put together with the parkway and Glenwood Horse Trail along with connecting trails and fire roads. gsomtb has come up from Greensboro and ridden a lot of this too.
