    Occoneechee Park/Clarksville, VA????

    Hello all...

I am taking an 18-month relocation for work to the South Hill area...I have posted on here recently about the area, but am looking now at Clarksville, VA for a place to live and drive from...(I've decided that if I'm going to work in S. Hill that I'm not going to 'live' there...)

Has anyone ever been to Clarksville? To the local park/lake/etc? Looking for info and advice if you have any at all! Thanks!!!

I must preface my comments with the fact that I haven't spent much time in Clarksville in over a decade. I like Clarksville. It is a nice quiet town for the most part. Everything centers on the lake. When you get there you'll see what I mean. Occoneechee park is pretty cool. As far as mtn riding goes, like I mentioned in the other thread, there really isn't any. At least there wasn't any when I spent time there. There is no bike shop or any organized club that I've heard of. Maybe that has changed in recent years. Road riding the back roads along the lake should be fantastic. Your best bet for a day of trail riding is to come to Angler's Ridge here in Danville. 35 miles of single track wind through the woods of the river valley. Go to The Southern Virginia Mountain Bike Association and all the trail info is there. There is also a trail page on the city government website, Danville Parks & Rec, VA - Official Website - Mountain Bike Trails. Hope this helps. See if you can rent one of the condos near the marina. You'll enjoy amazing sunrise views on the lake.
