    Let's Start A Group Ride

Looks like spring is finally on it's way. Is anyone interested in getting a group of people together for weekly mountain biking?. Now that the days are slowly getting longer, evenings are an option, weekend mornings work too. We could plan to ride 1-2 times a week. Schaeffer Farms or Seneca Ridge are nice trails.

    Is there anyone interested?

There are regular Rockburn/Patapsco sessions if you guys are interested. I know the trails pretty well... The pump track just got resurfaced as did the jump line. And I have a flexy sched so I can ride any time.

I'm in for rides! My work schedule rotates my hours and days off. I have off every other weekend. My concern for now is the condition of the trails. We really need a good dry spell for them to be rideable in the Farms I think. Otherwise it gets mucky and destroys the trails. Keep this thread alive so we can check and see when rides are going active!

Yes, they are connected. I drive down black rock road, right off of 118. Follow the road till you see a stone parking lot to the left, there is also a paved parking area about 100 feet up the road. The entrance to seneca ridge trail is on the left and the entrance to the schaeffer farms trail is on the right. It's going to be really nice weather on saturday. Could we go earlier, like hit the trails at 10am? It might be to busy by noon.

Schaeffer was good to go yesterday evening, so it should be fine tomorrow, I'd imagine SRT would be similar.

I'm game for earlier, both for traffic and time constraints. Rigid, SS rider getting back in shape, so it won't be a blistering pace for me...

I've been riding Patapsco regularly with friends and know pretty much all of the marked trails as well as some of the unmarked ones.

I was out riding yesterday and today. The trails were dry. Even with the rain showers today, I'm sure everything will be dry by this Wednesday. I get off work at 3pm daily, so I could be out on the trails by 4:30pm at the earliest. What time is good for you?

4:30 sounds good to me. Shoot me a reminder Wed. afternoon if you can to confirm everything. If the trails are dry, I should be good to go.

How about we meet in the parking area of Schaffer Farms at 4:30? I'm not sure where the Seneca ridge trail starts.

Hey guys, I'm a member of a meetup group, and they organize rides all the time, specially when it gets warmer. It's worth a look, there's at least one ride a week.

I think I'm doing the Muddy Branch as an out and back Saturday AM if anyone wants to join...

Id be down to ride with new people. About the earliest I can get on the trails after work is around 5:30-5:45ish. I live about a mile away from the 195 park and ride trailhead.

I'm not sure where the Seneca ridge trail starts.

16500 Black Rock Road, Germantown, and it connects to the White Loop of Schaeffer I think?

Only got a little bit of rain last night, and it looks like it'll be sunny and windy today, so the trail should be primo!

Anyone interested in riding Tuesday evening (4/9)? It's supposed to be almost 70 degrees out. Any thoughts on riding around the Germantown area?

Also starts on the other side at riffleford rd down by the right of way clearing at the bottom of the hill. Brown sign marking it.

    Schaeffer Weekday Morning Ride?

Schaeffer is such a PITA to hit after work (for me anyway) due to 270N traffic.

I'd like to start a weekly WEEKDAY MORNING SCHAEFFER RIDE.

Maybe something like an 8am start time and do the outside loop (9 miles) at a 9-10mph pace? We'd be in and out of the woods in an hour. I'm thinking wednesday AM.

    Anybody game?

Re: Let's Start A Group Ride

You read my mind exactly... I love in Leesburg and work nights in Alexandria.... I get off at 7am and I ride every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 8 with my two buddies. We normally ride Difficult Run but riding the same trail 3 times a week(weekends too) gets old so we were thinking of heading out to Schaffer sometimes on Wednesday. I don't know if I'd be able to keep up or not. Maybe. I'd have to check my Strava next time I'm out at Schaffer to see my pace.

But if you get something started we'd love to have some more folks to ride with.
