Good job! Insane weather this saturday! (12/21/13)

Guys (girls?) it's going to be nearly 70 this Saturday and by then it will be a good 4-5 days since rain. I'm thinking this is going to be a great day for riding!

I'm thinking of riding Patapsco since it's just about the closest to me other than Odenton Park. Where will you be riding this Saturday?

I've never ridden outside of MD. What are the trails like there?

RVA- JRPS and then might head out to Pocahontas State Park.

Definetly need to get back on the trails, my last few rides have all been on the road.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I've been lurking around for a while reading up on info. I'll be out in VA at Wakefield and possibly Fountainhead this weekend.

I have to go to work for an hour in the morning and then to the in laws in the afternoon. Sounds like there might be a few hours for me to sneak a ride in at Ptap...

Oh yeah? I have to be at a family gathering in the afternoon and would need to be home by say 1pm but I can ride anytime before that.

I've only ridden Patapsco a few times but the first time was a huge 12.5 mile loop going through every part of it. I'd be happy to ride with someone who knows the area better than I.

Let me know if you want to try to coordinate a ride. I'm game for riding as early as 9am.

If Fountainhead is open I'll ride there. If not I'll head up to Gambrill Might do an afternoon run with another rider at Meadowood if they're open and the schedules match up!

Does anyone know if Schaeffer Farms is closed for the season or was it only closed this past weekend? Was pretty bummed to get there only to turn around and head home.

Any other riding in the Montgomery County area besides Schaeffer and Gambrill/Watershed?

Montgomery Co is full of trails check out MORE's website more-mtb.org . If you were at schaeffer you could've tried the Seneca Ridge Trail (on the backside of schaeffer) or you could've rode hoyles mill trail connector that takes you black hills regional park or you could've tried little Bennett park.Just be mindful that it seems we are in the freeze thaw cycle and the ground when thawed is very wet with all the melting snow and rain

iso100 - I ran out of time last week. I'm thinking about riding this Saturday though.

No worries. I have cold weather gear now so I kinda want to try riding in anything not totally wet.

I'll let you know if I ride. It's easy for me to meet up with people at Rockburn Park.

I tried on the 21st and again this past Saturday and it was closed both times. No heads up on the trail closure hotline either. I ended up doing Seneca Ridge Trail from my backyard instead. Good ride...little slushy this past Saturday. Anyway, Schaeffer is listed as closed (for managed hunting) Jan 10-11...no other info. The sign said closed for wet/muddy trail conditions.
Check out the Seneca Ridge Trail (hit it from Black Rock Rd and the Old Paper Mill, or from Riffleford Rd near the creek. There's also Hoyles Mill, the Seneca Greenway Trail, etc...
