Gravel Grinder / Ultracross races in the Mid-Atlantic (near Baltimore)

I am in Baltimore, MD; does anyone know of any 2013 Gravel Grinder or Ultracross races/ events in the Mid-Atlantic (PA-MD-VA)?

I am only aware of the Iron Cross held in October at the Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA: Iron Cross

I am also looking for recommendations for similar type training routes in the 50K - 100K length within an 90 minute drive from Baltimore.

There are some good routes in the area on this blog: Grinding Gravel

Is the Iron Cross happening for 2013?

A little longer than 90 mins but the Hilly Billy Roubaix would definitely be worth the drive. Draws in a crowd from much further out. Great route, great race setup, and great people. You'll have fun...well, only if you aren't afraid to climb a little.

Check out our route west of Staunton, Va 50 miles of gravel wth three big climbs. It is an awesome route. It would be worth the drive and could be done in one day.

I was surfing through for some gravel training rides and came across your post today. Is this a true gravel road which can be ridden on a CX bike or would this ride need a mountain bike?

    Thanks in advance!!

It is fine on a CX bike. The descents and Climbs are all gravel with some pavement on both ends. I have riddden these roads on both my MTB and mt CX bike. The MTB is more comfortable on the downs, but not necessary.
