    freeride obstacles and patapsco

Hey, I have been seeing some photos of north shore type obstacles up patapsco. I have looked all over and can't seem to find them. Where are they? (if there is any)
Also, what are some other trails in the area that are more freeride oriented? A guy was telling me about fredrick watershed having some fun stuff to ride. His directions were horrible though. I looked on here, no avail.
Cant anyone point me in the right direction?

    thanks,
    -matt

You won't find any directions online about that type of stuff in either place as all of it is "unofficial".

you are going to have to ask someone in person out on the trails.

look for someone wearing pads and or full face helmet along with a burly bike.

ask if you can go on some trail rides with them and they will either show you the bandito stuff on their own or you may feel comfortable enough to ask. you might be expected to do some digging on the trail or patching trannies before you get to ride 'em

this may sound a bit odd for a grom but its the best way to go about it. you dont want to be hitting stuff out there by yourself either. your new friend will talk you through it and show you how much to check your speed and what not. 'the risk takers' of the mountain bike scene are actually VERRY calculating in their actions - as should you be

    hope it works out bro!

Hang in there Wolfman...everyone stated it correctly...you wont get directions here...it needs to be protected...but like Matt said...look for "pads"...we've all been there at one time or other and eventually we "arrived"...Keep a look out for us, we'll be happy to invite ya along.

    Ride now, talk later!
Studies show 100% of people die. Might as well have some fun.

Watershed is kind of a maze, it takes some exploring to get familiar with it, but its got a lot of awesome areas, and covert jump sections back in there. I park off Hamburg Rd. and there are trails on both sides of the road to start. There is also a *small* "skills course" in White Clay Creek in Delaware with a totter and a bunch of skinnies, but its really short, and really not too hard to clean. The singletrack in White Clay alone is worth it to make the trip up there though, super tight and flowy.

What I'm really interested in finding in Patapsco is the altar/cathedral/gate to hell thing in Cracker's picture, where the hell is that? I wanna go take some pictures there.

I haven't see his picturee (got a link?), but it''s probably the one over in the Daniels area on the Balto. Co. side of the river. Follow the Athelton (sp) road/trail upstream, then head up the hillside. I believe it's marked on the Patapsco map. There are several church ruins back there. Pretty cool buildings.

Hmmm, not the one I was thinking about. Is that up at the Patapsco Female Institute? My other guess would be the Hell House, but I don't think there's anything left of that.

Excellent responses. There should be an auto-delete for threads like this though,
gotta go get the local hookup. As always, there are no dangerous trail features, just nicely maintained singletrack, with no mandatory obstacles over 3" !

    I tried, no answer.

    I explored, no luck.

I made friends with local riders, BINGO!

The problem is that if it gets posted here, every dummy in the area will swarm in on the place and tell everybody, tear it up, get hurt or the park goes in and shuts it down. Punk kids find the places and go back there drinking and litter the place with beer cans. It SHOULD be kept hush hush.
