    Difficult Run?

Does anyone have a map of the difficult run trails? Or is it known by another name I might search for?

Looking for places I haven't been before and keep hearing about this one, but would like to not just show up and wander.

People mean a lot of things when they say "difficult run". Most mean Lake Fairfax. Sometimes they mean the old loop that uses the Lake Fairfax doubletrack connecting to the CCT, back to the W&OD and then back to Lake Fairfax (sometimes called the colts neck loop). Sometimes they mean the CCT north from Carpers Farm Way (which parallels difficult run all the way up to Great Falls). Or some combination thereof.

My map (linked above) covers the trails in Lake Fairfax, and notes where the doubletrack heads off towards the CCT. You can find CCT maps for the trails connecting the W&OD and Great Falls. I'd say that these days, most riders stay within Lake Fairfax. You can do an 8-10 mile loop with minimal repeating within the park.
