Bike Vacation in Roanoke and Harrisonburg

My girlfriend and I are leaving tomorrow to go on vacation in Roanoke for a few days followed by Harrisonburg for a few days. I was planning on riding at Carvin's Cove and Mill Mountain while in Roanoke and Masanutten while in Harrisonburg. I was just wondering if anyone else suggests any other places to ride? My girlfriend is a beginner so we won't be going on any epic rides or anything like that.
Where should I park when riding at Carvin's Cove? I think I remember reading on here that the Bennet Springs parking lot is a good place to start.
What is the bike shop in Harrisonburg that suggests routes for people who want to bike in the area?
Also, what else should we do besides bike while in in these areas?
    Thanks for your help. Tim

Stop at Just the Right Gear for 411 on the system. Park at Bennet Springs and ride the lower trails (lakeside trails) at Carvins Cove - they have some climbing but not too much. Enchanted Forest , Little Bell, Songbird. You can take the paved road down or with moderate climbing ride 4 Gorges. Explore Park is pretty good but rooty. Montvale also has a smaller trail systems, but I have not ridden there yet. Mill Mountain is good but a little tricky the first visit and has some pretty good climbs.

The Roanoke City market area is worth a visit as is the Grandin area. If you want a warmup the Roanoke River Greenway is pretty cool.

btw, you need a trail pass to ride massanutten since it is private property
