Awesome weather about to change in Mid-Ohio Valley (WV)

The weather ! Normally the weather around here gets pretty crappy in October and only has a few breaks between. However, the last couple months have been unbelievable in our area. Weekend after wonderful weekend full of riding in the upper 50's to upper 60's with plenty of sunshine. I mean after ride picnics with temps still in the upper 60's.

Here was one of our rides in early October at Sells Park / Strouds Run:

Then the Mid-Ohio Valley Bike Fest in mid October:

Early November ride at Lake Hope not from across the river in Ohio:

And just last weekend in the Wayne National Forest:

Not to mention all the rides in between that I didn't take the camera on. It's been non-stop and hope you all have enjoyed it as well.

However I see the forecast for this coming weekend and it appears we need to face the fact it's time to dig out the cold weather gear if we plan to continue riding. With any luck we'll get some more warm days in December .

Hope everyone else has been enjoying the wonderful weather as well.

Great pics as always OutDoorNut. Thanks for the ride along. Sunday was great for riding here too, but looks like the good weather has left us too - for now.

I went out early Saturday and was reminded that the only thing worse than wet leaves on wet clay is frozen leaves on frozen clay.
Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

    Hey CCR,

Did you notice the skewer as a crank bolt in the pics of our Wayne Ride? One of the ladies riding with us had a crank arm bolt (lightweight stuff) break about 1/4 of the way into our ride. We searched all our packs and someone had an old skewer that we rigged to hold the crank arm on. It came loose in the first 1/8th mile so we put wire ties and duct tape on it to hold the lever down.

Love it ODN. Duck tape and wire ties save the day. HaHa, goes along with WV Bobs saying of "everyone makes fun of a hillbilly til they need something fixed". Just kidding on the hillbilly thing. You rescued me on the 2008 Kennison Mountain Log Hopp with your backwoods-bike-engineering-ingenuity after I rammed a stick up the derailiuer. Thanks again on that one. I'm also partial to carrying a part roll of electrical tape for emergency situations.

ODN, you're a regular McGyver on the trails. Is there any coincidence that you're so good at repairing things, while your boy Malibu is so good at breaking things?

Punch him in the arm for me (but tell him it was from Captain).

Glad you've been enjoying the mild weather but it is time for some serious snowfall. Snowshoe is anticipating a 12/5 opening date, last year we were on the slopes in the third week of November.

Whit022000: I won't be down for the Subie Days since they now will coincide with opening weekend. I'll pass on that melee.

Guess I better make sure he obtains a few of my skillz so I don't have to keep fixing broken brake cables from riding up hill.... .

Glad to see you are still around davis. I'll save the holiday wishes for the phone call I'll give you soon.
