Hey everybody. Just a heads up. I hope you enjoy the new sections which will be in effect at midnight tonight. PST.

Everything post 1996 will be moved to General.

Thanks and have a very nice day today.

I tried to argue that point but the powers that be said that it's silly that we even want to go to 1996. In fact, if the bike wasn't done by the factory or person, if handmade, by October 18th of that year, the bike has to be submitted to a committee to evaluate if it's entitled to be considered vintage.

    Jerks.

I can't believe this is even being discussed.
    Ridiculous.
It should be broken down as follows:
    1987 - 1989
    1990
    1991 - 1995
    1995 - 1996

    The JT Eras

    Anything else is simply unacceptable.

You have something there, CCMDoc. I'll advise the ruling party and the subcommittees of the committee of the subpart of the whole part of your brilliant plan. Genius!

danec, you are in luck. Certain bikes have been grandfathered in. I see that yours is one of them. Feel free to start a new thread.

    april fools?

i know everyone has an opinion about what constitutes "VRC", and i have no intention of rererereopening that debate, but if they're going to split it into two forums, why not take this opportunity to increase the appeal of this area of the forum by making the latter of the two ranges incorporate MORE people, not fewer? considering the long history of the bicycle, having a separate VRC category for seven model years is just laughable.

especially after the subdivision of the VRC forum, the exclusion of 97, 98, etc. from the latter forum would improve precisely nobody's experience, yet alienate a small number of people whose bikes are just outside the range, and likely will find no common interest with the population of the general forum. no way the higher-ups are so myopic. april fools.

    Great news!

I just got off the phone with the CEO of MTBR and threatened to pull my advertising unless they included bikes up to 2001 in the new forum.

    He agreed

OK. I'd been considering setting up Facebook accounts for each of my bikes anyway. That way they can "friend" each other.

What about the Fillet brazed forum?

    The 1" headset forum?

    The pre suspension forum?

Can I have my own forum?
Seek: Koski Trailmaster. Breezer Series 2, or 3. Fillet brazed Ibis Custom. Cunningham Racer. Otis Guy (but not that softride model). That's all I need I don't need anything else... except... except for an old Mountain Goat bar stem combo. And that's all I need. I don't need anything else. Except.....

MTBR experimented with a Double Century forum but found relevance pertaining to mountain biking to be lacking. Apparently, a century is a lot of miles. Since 20-ish miles is a lot for me, I'm going to have to agree. However, the subcommittee said that you and the 8 people that are big milers can have your forum but needed to do a sit bone evaluation to make sure you are not physically injuring yourself as they don't currently have it covered under their liability insurance.

Well. Obviously, that would fall under the nonsuspension forum.

Rumpfy has been asked to moderate the Miscellaneous forum as well. I hope he's up to the task.

For those two forums I'd suggest the "Rumpfy Salute" instead of the green Chicklets for reputation.

He certainly will be busy as he is also moderating the Effeminate forum.

is this correct? i suppose this would be slightly more logical than i originally interpreted... maybe its just a coincidence we're receiving this news on april fools day!
Actually it's just one of those anomolies regarding calendars - you know like:

The calendar year starts January 1st
The academic year begins July 1st
The fiscal year begins October 1st

Somehow around 1985, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs agreed that the IT calendar would begin on April 1st. Being the jokers they were both known to be at that time, it was adopted and it has been the same since. Our institutional servers are being updated in much the same fashion as I type this on my VIC-20.
