    Vintage Adventure Bike

Anyone used their VRC bike as an ADV rig? Other than the 26" wheels they're pretty much ready to go as is. You can pick up a really clean bike for less than a Surly frameset. As much as I want a new one I can't see selling several old bikes to get a new one that's just going to depreciate.
A garage full of steel frames means happiness.

I don't use a vintage bike for bikepacking anymore but have in the past. Depending on the bike's geo and frame flex they can work fine.

The biggest issue compared to a modern bike is gearing. If you can put on modern low gears you're good. My vintage bikepacking bike was 7-speed with a 32T rear cog. My modern bikebacking bike is 10-speed with a 42T cog and a smaller inner chain ring. When you're hauling gear, low gears are nice.
