I picked up this '91 Attitude over the weekend. The original owner was a nice gentleman who bought the bike new (I guess he was in his 40s at the time) and barely rode it. 21 years later and the finish is virtually flawless and the paint as smooth as glass. No chain suck either. There is some minor pitting on the seatpost, derailleurs, and brakes, but I think it should clean up nicely. I don't think the saddle or the tires are original and they will be the first to go as soon as I can find a Selle Flite Ti saddle and maybe a set of Smoke/Dart tires. Everything else looks original; even the Ringle skewers are more or less period correct.
If you need touch up paint go to your local beauty supply and get a color sheet from the nail polish stand to bring home and match up to your bike. The ladies that work at Empire beauty must think I am a transvestite.
Was just watching Tinker hammer on one in an old NORBA video (VHS).
Love the look but always thought they must be teeth rattlers over roots, rocks and ruts.
Not so?
The Attitudes with that big oversized fork can be a bit rough, but not any worse than a really stout straight blade steel fork. The Pinnacles and Rascals with the 1" ht and steel forks are noticeably less harsh.
