    That's it!

    I'm done.

There are/were a good bunch of people on this forum that acted politely, in fun, and as a community over the years. Many of those people are friends of mine, and have been a wealth of knowledge to the members of this forum.

Well, it seems to me that most of the riff-raff wants to take over the VRC forum on MTBR and make is some kind of perpetual argument and bike-outing site.

Well, I won't have any part of it. I am taking my 25+ years of bicycle knowledge and expertise off the table here and am moving on. I have better things to do than politely explain why the forum has RULES that members should politely follow.

I like to think that I have been a helpful resource for a lot of people on the forum, and I take a certain amount of pride in being helpful, but it seems as though the "new" members want it their way and so, as far as I'm concerned, you can have your forum with absolutely no reliable expertise or information sources.

Perhaps, when you're all asking each other if an Altus C10 derailleur will work with a 200GS shifter you'll realize what you've lost, but for now, you can have the dilapidated playground that this forum has turned into...I really have better things to do with my time than lead preschool children by the hand and explain WHY there are rules.

If anyone needs to get hold of me, PM me and I'll forward you my email address. I'll be checking my box until the end of the weekend and after that will likely not be visiting MTBR again.

Good luck to you all. Have fun with your crappy forum (which USED to be cool and fun!)

Ah yes the old "taking my ball and going home" post. A timeless classic of internet forums. Well good luck to you and I'm sorry it went that way.

A few other threads, I totally missed the one that got binned myself. Its like the closing of the poly/sci forum drama last summer, except for retro-grouches.

Unfortunately, a lot more of the experienced people are probably leaving and not saying a thing.

Good luck getting your questions answered.

Experience on this board is . . . simply just fading away

Yeah apparently I'm the only one who puts any effort into leaving. I left rec.bicycles.tech, rec.bicycles.off-road, and the rec.bicycles.marketplace newsgroup without saying anything (I left because of boredom with answering the SAME questions over and over, and dealing with the same idiots like a certain sierra clubber spamming how enjoying nature was evil), and a year later sheldon brown himself was emailing to find out if I'd died.

To paraphrase the previous administration... If you leave then the jacka$$es win.
Think it through man, just do what other people advise ignore them and their posts. It is just the internet afterall.

I hate to see you leave Richie, but if I were you, for right now I would take a break. Why get yourself stressed about the BS on here with a baby on the way. Take a break, let it pass, welcome the new member of your family and then if you feel like it visit here a bit. I'd be more than happy to see you back again.
