Recommendations for a 1" Steerer/Disc Brake Tab Suspension fork
Looking for your advice on a fork for my newly acquired 2001 Schwinn Panther SS.
As noted in the title it must have a 1" steerer tube. Disc brake tabs would make things easier but are not absolutely required.
The attached pic is how it looked when I got it but as so many of the original parts have been changed I do not think I will keep anything but the frame.
One of the last bikes made before Schwinn went on the auction block and became a department store toy maker.
It has an aluminum frame and mountain bike geometry and is shockingly light and fun to ride
I have been looking for awhile so I am very excited to finally have one to work with.
Might be hard to come by in 1" head tube and for 26" wheels. I have seen 1" for 700c for cyclo cross bikes but not for MT Bikes in 1" with Disk tab unless you go custom.
Marzocchi is probably your best bet. You can also smoosh together an older RS judy crown with more modern judy or sid lowers that have IS disk mounts.
I think those are your most straight forward cost effective options.
