rear brake problem 1989 Karakoram GT

I have a1989 Karakoram with a U-brake on the seat stays the seat stayes are above the tire rim and it appears the return springs aren't operating on both sides of the shimano brakes. Having a hard time finding replacement brake that bolts to seat stays. Any ideas or can these brakes be rebuilt? Thanks

Think maybe you could have just added this to your other Karakoram thread?

eBay. $10-15 bucks. If you're having a hard time finding this stuff, you're in trouble.

Try squirting some PB Blaster or similar penetrating oil into the spring mechanism area. It should loosen things up.
