Old school Zebra
So I was on vacation this past week, and had a blue collar moment, sadly, no camera at the time.
Well loved, still in daily use as a pastry getter, at first glance, looked like a mid 80's Stumpy. Lines and spec were pretty identical too.
What really threw me was the seat tube frame tubing sticker. Same exact yellow/orange etc sticker as a Specialized.
Never paid that much attention to it, don't know if it was a factory sticker, always just kind of assumed it was a Specialized one.
Made in the same factory? Looks like.
More curious about the sticker, as I don't have one I can look at to determine.
Never knew Zebra made MTB's, just your basic bike boom roadies is all I've ever run across....
The shop I worked at in the early 90's sold Zebras. Mostly utility bikes (like 5 speed uprights with canti's, etc.) I dimly remember there being nicer bikes in the literature for the line, but we had other (nicer) brands for that so we never stocked them.
Also we still had a few hanging around that were badged as "Zebrakenko". I always thought they should have stuck with that name. ;-)
Don't call it a gooseneck.
Thanks, yeah I knew they were not really anything to write home about.
I agree on the original name too, much cooler, but I guess at the time, not "American" enough, kinda like if Honda and come across as Hondabukki or some such thing, palates just weren't ready yet....
