    North Eastern VRC Fest/Swap Meet

So awhile ago I accidentally hijacked a thread talking about a North Eastern VRC Fest. Seamed there was a fair amount of interest. So here we find our selves in the new year, suffering through the cold of winter, time to start dreaming about the warmth of summer and riding bikes.

    So here's what I'm thinking:
    - Location; Pittsfield State Forest, Massachusetts. Some what central, with fantastic trails right from the camp site. Local for me so I can organize this thing

    - Events; thinking arriving Friday night, geek out on everyone's VRC goodness, Saturday ride, Swap meet on Sunday.

    - Date; to be determined. Most likely sometime in later July. Thoughts on this? Lets nail down a date.

I dont have a dog in the fight, but after organizing a few of these, might I offer a suggestion? Rather than a stand-alone event, tag along with something that's already established, like Nemba-Fest at the Kingdom Trails.

    NEMBAfest @ KT 2015 | NEMBA

I've ridden MTBs all over New England and the KT system is hands down the best riding. You could ride for three days and not do the same ride. Vintage MTBs at a regular MTB event draw a lof of attention as do the riders for riding the same stuff as the others on modern bikes.

    Just my $.02

I know nothing of swap meets or organizing events but I'd be in for a Vintage Ride.
I bet I could convince Chefmiguel and a few other NJ/NY folk to come along with their vintage bikes.

Definitely worth $.02 Amybrook, thoughts by the community? Should we roll this into NEMBA Fest?

I'm up for either a stand-alone or combo event, a stand-alone would give us retro heads a little more alone time.

I do like the camping idea - low key/low cost.

    Late July works for me.

So I like the idea that it's just us VRC geeks, not saying I won't be up at NEMBA Fest the month prior, plus I think Pittsfield is a little bit more central for our NY/NJ brethren. Hows the weekend of July 25-26? Nice things to do in the Pittsfield area for family as well.

Got that weekend penciled in now.

Is there a campground or primitive camping?

Sadly, as a one man shop, with summer being prime haymaking time, and weekends being the most hay filled, mid summer is an impossible time to ask my boss for time off.

Have fun though, wish I could join....

Damn Mendon was hoping you'd be able to make it, I'd love to meet you sometime, but I work in a shop and understand, already told my partner he's working that weekend Retro Dude there is a porta potty on site there are also flushers and showers a short bike ride away

    Sick days?

You mean those are the days I take drugs and come in anyway?

Sad thing about being a one man band, if I don't show up, I don't get paid, the work doesn't get done, and continues to pile up around my ears.

Summer, I feel like the UPS guy during the holidays!

We'll see, if it seems quiet right then, maybe, but I'd say 99% nope.

    They allow dogs?

It'd be fun to meet a bunch of you all too. All this west coast Keyesville talk, ought to be an east coast version!

Yes Keysville be dammed!!!! Yes they do allow dogs and while it is a state park and they are supposed to be on a leash the group site is all by itself and my dogs will not be leashed while I'm there. Better trails than Keysville by the way

It was discussed a month and a half ago and the community seamed to feel they wanted a stand alone event. That being said sounds like dirtfest could be a fun event to hold a VRC ride/beerathon
