NorCal Bay Area Fall Vintage MTB Ride, Oct 11th (Meet Your Maker/Biketoberfest)

I figured this was a good way/place to get some vintage mtbs together since this is already going to happen.

The Meet Your Maker guys are heading out for a ride from the Java Hut at 8am and hitting 680/Tamarancho.
Oct 11, 2014 Meet Your Maker

Then the Biketoberfest is going down from 12 noon on.
    Biketoberfest

Halaburt and I are in. Who else?

    What up Eric!

Wish I could attend as this would definitely be well worth the trip from San Diego. Yet, I am locked up for the next 10 weekends as I have volunteered to coach my sons fall baseball team. I will make it to an event/ride one of these days... Oh yes, I will make it one of these days.

I will be there but can't do the ride. Dr. cleared me for cruising the roads but no dirt yet.
Anybody who just wants to cruise around hit me up.

Great day! Awesome ride with good guys. Then, nice post-ride festivities in Fairfax.
Only wish we could have had more "vintage" on the ride but, maybe next time.

Good ridin' with you and Halaburt (and PT)! Ya, wish more vintage was out there too. Can't seem to get the local vintage contingent to make any effort. Their loss.
The Makers were pretty stoked on our bikes though!

Sorry I missed this. Looks like a fun (but crowded) ride. Unfortunately work got in the way.

As Rumpfy and Joe Steel know, I'm notorious for putting my bike together the night before the ride.... and then something usually falls off mid ride. So this time I made sure my bike was all tuned up and ready to roll. I'd been commuting with it for a couple weeks and made sure all the little annoying adjustments had been made.

So far I'm really grooving on the drop bar setup. This is my first, and so far only, drop bar bike. I really like the feel.

Here is what I would have ridden:

BTW - awesome shot of the Otis with Otis

Merlin, right? Funny how there are all sorts of rare and not so rare bikes here but very few of us ride Merlins.. Sometime in the late 80s early 90s, Merlin was the most prestigious brand of all.

Yep, bought with student loan money (commuting expense... right? ) in 91. It's seen a few iterations over the years, but it's been out of rotation for far too long. Now that I'm riding it again I'm remembering how much I love riding this bike.

Moratti cranks were bought on student loan? Bold move!

Oh sh!t, I didn't even realize that. I'll fix it. This is the first clip/strap set up I've done since the M737 SPD's first came came out.

Otis also corrected me on the saddle. He uses a different version of the Unicanitor. After a few other known corrections I need to make, this'll be pretty much fully dialed.

Wasn't that Clockwork stem custom ordered? If so, why all the spacers?

Despite the lack of humility that tends to put you at odds with some of your would be fan base here on this forum, I don't wish for this venture of yours to fail. I happily bought a book as well and thank you for signing it.
