    NJ Ride Sunday October 5th

Can't let Rumpfy, Repack and all those Left-coasters have all the fun.

Already have a few MTBR VRCers committed for a nice ride on good singletrack as the leaves change hue.

Meet at 11:00AM Sunday October 5th:

    Hartshorne Woods
Garden State Parkway Exit 117 to Rocky Point Entrance
Rocky Point 200 Portland Rd. Highlands, NJ 07732

    http://co.monmouth.nj.us/documents/1...ced_aug_13.pdf

We'll have to find some place for food but ...

    After-ride beer:
    Carton Brewing Company
Carton Brewing Company | 6 East Washington Ave. Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716

18 million people living here and none of them are VRC'ers? This may be your last chance this year to do a vintage ride with other people, winter is coming, and not just on TV!

Burgers and more can be found at Harborside Grille which is just a few blocks from Carton Brewing in Atlantic Highlands downtown -- there is also good Thai food, Chinese, Pizza, etc on the same main street in Atlantic Highlands. Just 5-7 minutes drive from Hartshorne Woods. For those that want a really long ride, there is also Huber Woods which is just a quarter mile road ride from Hartshorne Woods.

    That's great Mtnwng.

Now we only need people to actually get off their ass and ride the bikes they talk about on this site.

    Sorry ECS

Light rain today coupled with nice weather tomorrow and autumnal leaves should make it a great ride.

    Next time Steve

-Anomie-, Chefmiguel, Mtnwng and I made the ride to Hartshorne Woods.

Weather was perfect - cool and dry.

Sky was clear and brilliant blue.

Ground was awesome - light rain the past few days created "hero dirt"

Trails - quite technical in many places with extended climbs over sequences of root and log steps.

Downhills were fast and swoopy interspersed with sections of the same root and log steps often right after a sweeping turn. Had to be on your game not to endo or face-plant while booking along.

    -Anomie- rode his drop-bar Ibis
Chef ws on a pink Sycip with Campy group
    Mtnwng was on a Lodestar
    I rode a Specialized Ultimate

Here are some of the bikes ridden and a couple just brought along for a photo shoot.

Can't imagine we'll have weather like this much longer - but the gods gave us today and it really couldn't have been better.
Unless a few more VRC riders had shown up.

    Nov 2nd Ride

47F and windy as hell but tamed by the forested singletrack that makes up 95 percent of Six Mile Run.

That same forest made our ride back particularly harrowing as we miscalculated remaining available light and our distance to the parking lot.

The last 40 minutes was by the light of the moon - of which there was little filtering though the trees.

Despite that unanticipated excitement it was another great ride with Chefmiguel and -Anomie-

Our rides - spanning a few generations:
