    A "NEW" arrival ...

Just got this in the mail today and as I had previously been asked about Yeti rider scans in the past, I snapped a photo of the cover. Then I paged through and couldn't help myself ...

I'll post some of the thread specific names in their appropriate places as well if that's OK with the Mods.

Nice, I seem to remember owning that mag, back when mags had decent racing coverage.
All the gear and no idea.

going slight OT, I remember buying a mag or a guide or something back in 98. Only thing in it, had prfiles of all the pro riders, and their bike, then look at all the course for the world cups, pics, maps elevations. Was brilliant, think it was put out by the Uci or something.

All look fine to me, unless Tomac is riding on the ceiling.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to keep an eye out for it though I must admit to waning interest for things past about '95, maybe '96.

Yeah, I was still stoked by anything until about 99 I always wondered if there were more of them. Must admit I am dissapointed by the lack of racing coverage in mags these days, well the last 15 years really. But only 2 weeks till the world cup is on again, love to still watch the XC... (is it wrong that when I went to the worlds I was bedazzeled by the XC guys, skill and fitness, but after watching the underwhelming DH practice with all the try hard look at me I know someone and namedropping couldn't even be bother to watch the DH finals and went shopping instead?)

Oh and the other day I got a pile of GT catalogues, paid not much for them, but a HUGE amount in post as nobody seems to have the 96 catalogue... and guess what, it has everything you could ever want except the Tech shop stuff and the specs for the 96 Xizang... the 97 I got with it has it all, but not he 96. Stupid, me for not checking, I'll bet the other pile of catalogues the guy was selling has it all, but not for another $100 post hahaha.

Still should scan up for retrobike archive..assuming my scanner can scan that big!

I've been looking for one myself but no luck so far. Want to make mine a '96 Furtado build. Actually prefer M900 to the 950 but my frame is obviously a 96 so ...

I have a copy of the '96 catalog. If you're looking for info on a specific bike I can take a picture of the page. The catalog is too big for my scanner.

    That would be great.

I'm sure Mik_git and I are interested in the same thing - '96 Xizang.

    Thanks

WTF is tied around Miles' waist in that cover shot?

Oh, I also heard a rumor Missy never actually went to jail. Anyone back that up?

I know that guy on ebay.He bumped up your shipping to full boat cause he's a nice guy.

There's minimal info on the frame. The frame is pictured at the bottom of a page and little other info is given. Here's what's there:

Thanks for posting that. I remember that issue and every pic you posted there. Which is strange because I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night...

When my wife cooks, it's better to forget.

GT fans - I had a look last night thinking I had the 96 catalogue but all I could find was the 98,99,2000 ones and some mini-mag called Team Scream Vol.4. I'm not convinced I don't have it mind you, just not with the others for some reason.

yeah that is the same catalogue I have, the 96 one, it tells you all about the tech shop stuff and has the pic above of the xizang, but no stats on the tech shop frames... where as every other catalogue has them, like the 97 one I got, which I already have the scans from retrobike...doh.

ya....very cool pics....I still have a 92 or 93 program from the norba world cup somewhere, and a few of the "special edition" mags too. I gotta dig them up...I found another tomac card from back then also....i was just 2 years ago I threw/recycled about 300 magazines all from 90 - 2000...thought that they would never bee needed...I took dozens of early 90's brochures to rays (rays mountain bike park) and put them in all the slots for the bike brochures..thought it would be funny to fool those that didnt know how old they were....always the same..as soon as i throw something away...i need/want it!...
    thanks for the cool scans.

Unfortunately I did the same with most of my old stuff though I did save certain MTB magazines, a few of my number tags and a few parts here and there. I was better with my collection of FF comics from the 60s and 70s .

If you're in the neighborhood, stop by. My wife is Greek and she lived with my Italian parents for 5 years - best combination! You'll gain 16 pounds in two days

As far as the GT stuff, I'm slowly recovering from the beating I took from Rumpfy and Ameybrook after posting a picture of my blasphemous '96 Xizang. I rode it this morning and guilted myself into starting a proper build today so if you see something useful for me, post up the photo.

hahaha, I was just going through deleting old emails and saw the the paypal went to you, didn't even realise at the time (just go to show how much I must be using paypal to not even notice...or look... at what I was doing). The post... one of the wonders of living here in OZ, you gotta get eveything sent here, and it was a pretty hefty packet.

which makes me think something else, my xizang cost about $900 landed in post... airfare to NY was $990 when I went... next time I buy a bike, maybe I should fly over!
