hi..I am new here but I recall the looked somewhat similar to Ringle Zooka stems. I have a pics somewhere in an old stack of MBA's.

The guy who ran it was last named Rodgers....will get the first name tonite ( article about the Qranc team in the premiere issue of Flow for a few years back).

    Qrank stem

My wife's got one one her bike. I'll get a photo next week when we get home. It's a neat little stem like a Ringle with some extra machining.

    Qranc Info

Qranc was run by Dave Rodgers, a former motorcycle guy who had been with Answer and I think O'Neal. Qranc's headquarters was in Big Bear. They didn't actually manufacture anything, they were a "brand house" that spec'ed and marketed products (bars, gloves, pants, jerseys, armor) made mostly in Taiwan. Exceptions were the Qranc helmet line, which were actually Japanese OGK, and the German-made carbon cranksets they had for awhile.

The stems were kinda cool. Although in reality they were just your basic Taiwan forged stem with some machine work and anodizing...two added steps that at the manufacturing level probably cost Qranc an extra buck or three, but brought an otherwise generic $25 stem into the Ringle marketplace where it could sell for two or three times that. Problem was that the added machining sometimes created stress risers and downhillers started breaking them. There was a lawsuit or two and that probably contributed to the demise of the company.

Anyway, I have a blue one that I still ride XC. And I have a red 135mm 1 1/8" that I'd like to sell or trade.

One of the coolest things that Qranc ever did was when Dave realized that there was some great DH talent in Australia. He'd invite Aussies to come to Big Bear to ride, train and race. For a summer or two Chris Kovarik lived in a little studio apartment at the back of the Qranc shop.
