    My El Chiquillo...

After perusing the zombie "defining vintage mountain bikes" thread, I figured my custom Ventana El Chiquillo may just squeak under the wire. Bike was commissioned in '96 and the build had a "theme," I was attempting to build an MTB made exclusively of US made bits; hence, a keen eye will catch the Crupi pedals, a BMX manufacturer, WTF

You saddle looks askew and off kilter. So does your front tire. trick of camera? I haven't actually seen anybody ride with those derailleurs in a long long time. how are they working out for you?

I do like your car though. Very VRC!

Must be some goofy camera perspective.

Derailleurs working great, run them on my One-Off Ti too.

Very nice, I have to say though if they were mine the first thing I would do is take those deraillers off and put them in a safe, slap some decent XT stuff on them and ride. I remember how bad I felt about cracking an early XTR derailler on a rock. Can't imagine how it would feel trashing one of those knowing how valueable they can be. That One-Off is nicely understated bad assededness.

I understand what you're saying but I have a really hard time not enjoying the things I own, I have a very "life is too short to fret over those type of things" attitude. That said, I've been lucky and have had no major mishaps; however, I must admit, I recently switched to a hitch mounted rack and I am a bit uneasy with the prospect of some texting nimrod rear-ending me while transporting bikes.

I have to stop lurking here, it's giving me pause about riding my bikes, bit ironic for an MTB site.

+1. I mean, I wouldn't kick the Ventana out of bed for eating crackers, but the One-Off... Wow. That's a pretty special thing.

I love that about some people here. Ripping open NOS boxes of 20 year old parts and riding with speed their Cunningham (here's looking at you, FB!) through a downhill course.

However, I also don't have Graftons (except pedals), Pauls, Kookas (AND HAMS! SOB!) so the investment hasn't been that big of a hit on the wallet for me.
