    haha. They aren't messing around! The only aluminum bike allowed is a Vitus... How about a Cunningham?

    I like this line: "Any registered cyclist who arrives at the start line or is found on the course with a bicycle that does not conform to the rules and regulations of the event will be disqualified (and humiliated) immediately."

    they don't won't people to show up in cannondales treks etc... they would be into a cunnigham no doubts. or anything good and rare. a friend last year rode a 70's carbon frame and they were really into it. just tell them before hand.

    I think the event is really cool and someday would love to do it. I was just enjoying rules and envisioning getting pulled out because of a wrong derailleur.

    Cannondale and Trek both had road bikes before 85, but yeah, wouldn't represent the spirit of the event as a good old Italian steed would.

    I found out today that James McLean invented the mountain bike. I had no idea. Learn something new every day.

    Edit: oh wait. He didn't actually build it.
