Mantis Flying V painted by Troy Lee

I need some help to clarify a true "legend" about this frameset.
This bike, published in the early 90' in a well known italian magazine, some people say that was painted by Mr. Troy Lee in person... after that picked up in the USA to find home in Italy. I'm asking if someone Mantis experts know some rumours about this story. The only thing that I know is that Mr. Troy Lee was racing in the 1989 with a Valkirye. Thanks for any help
