    Mag21 Questions

    Hi all -
Just a couple questions for all of the Mag21 experts:

    1. Hypothetically, if I wanted to run v-brakes on a Mag21 (gross, I know), are there any vintage-y braces that could replace the stock brace/hanger?
    2. Is anyone still working on Mag21s that would be willing to fix the upper air seals on mine?

Hope you all have a good weekend riding!

    Best,
    Rich

As to the first: why not simply cut off the brake cable hanger, grind/sand it smooth and repaint it? I gave a set to a friend years ago and that's exactly what he did. Might be able to find it if you'd like to swap.

As to the second: Hippie Tech Suspension may be able to help

CCMdoc - thanks for the comment.... Not totally opposed to the cut and grind, will think about that.

Funny you mention Hippietech... Its fixing their shitty work from about 3 years ago... Been sitting in a box since I got it back from them.. Not holding air...

Unfortunately I've read as many reviews of similarly bad experiences with H-T as good but more recently they had seemed to trend towards good. Sorry to learn its still a crap shoot especially since I have a number of RS Mags and at some point they'll need professional servicing.

    1. The brace without a housing stop was available from late '95 through '97. The same part was used on the Mag and Quadra forks, so you could always look for a junked Quadra for parts. The bushings fit the Mag too.

    2. Main seal replacement isn't all that hard. I think the service manual is still online.

Thanks Zanetti - Someone needs to do a YouTube video on the Mag main seal replacements.... that's how things get repaired at my house.
