Mag 21 Single Filler Tube mod?

I was in a different thread and ran across the photo and quote with.
It solves some problems on my Mag 21.
I am intrigued as it is suggested that this was a published mod at one point.
I could probably source the cap conversion, but what about that presta tee?

The old mechanic in me doesn't get it... The legs are braced together to provide a balance.

The cynic in me says that Mag21's are decorative/collector today. Why push the performance envelop?

Not so much about performance as about the lack of air valve replacements.
Both of mine died. I did a presta valve conversion, and it worked greet, until I busted a stem off.
This worked good, but sticks up to high, and hits the frame when the bike, uhh...crashes.
I am all ears for any viable replacement air valves or alternative replacements.
