I should finally upgrade

After owning the same bike for 11 years, I figured it would be time for an upgrade. I was getting nostalgic while thinking of my new ride to get put together, so I figured I would post some pics taken just after my last ride.

The bike was made in 96 by a small framebuilder in northern Idaho. It has an AMP B-3 rear triangle paired with an Alpine Designs front triangle. I figured it was the only way to get the best suspension (or what I thought was the best design back then) without having to worry about AMP's weak headtube.

The bike is all stock, with the exception of the Fork (my old RST Mozo Pro-W finally called it quits last year) and rear deraileur and chain, both of which I broke multiple times. All the components are XT from 96.

I have loved this bike and it has treated me well.
Thats why my new bike will be using the same frame
I have an entirely new drive train at the bike shop right now, and my new wheels should be here by tuesday. Everything else will slowly get replaced as I can find good deals on them. The first thing will probably be a new seatpost or new handlebars.

Anyways, just thought some of you might enjoy seeing an old bike that is still seeing lots of time on the trails. I'll probably be on it until I brake the frame (unlikely, it was built pretty strong) or until I decide I really need more than 3" of travel in the rear.

Very slick machine. Most people who buy high-end bikes are, money permitting, ready to buy another when the next newer-bigger-better-lighter comes along; it is good to see a high-end machine that is not only ridden, but ridden a lot after so much time. That's getting your money's worth.
