    how do you disassemble skewers?

So I got Judy DHO and the RS QR adapters but the instructions say to use the rear skewer on the front because the overall width of the front hub with adapters is 130mm.
I want to add a longer rod to my CBR front skewer but the end of it near the lever has been hit with a drift punch from the factory to prevent it from spinning.
Can I simply use a vice and a wrench to unscrew these two parts or will I ruin it?

    1) As Hollister mentioned, gently dremel the punch.

    2) Thread two nuts onto the skewer of interest and then back jam them against each other. After that, use an open ended/adj. wrench to remove the rod (lefty loosey). If you have to put the rod in a vise, just wrap it with tape.
