First would like to say Hi to all as this is my first post.
I have just bought a 1998/1999 Specialized Rock Hopper FS.
In real nice condition, only fault is the forks are worn and not smooth. It's quite rideable but feels lumpy.
What are my options with these forks? They are Rock Shox Jett T2's.
Would replacement forks be 1" 1/8th size?
Would it be easier just to replace with something similar.
That's a '99 I thinks. You can check out the specs here BikePedia
That fork IMO was never great, even when new, but you can get rebuild stuff here Suspension Fork Parts eStore - (Powered by CubeCart) and order/dial in to your weight and riding which would help.
The good news is yes, it's a 1 1/8 steerer/headset so there's plenty of choices.
The bad news is a new, better fork is gonna cost you more than the bike is worth.
1999 is hardly a vintage, you'll probably get more hits/info on another forum, like general.
IMO it's a decent ride if it fits you well and you're not looking for the cream of the crop. If I were you I'd rebuild that fork or put a rigid fork on it, check/replace rubber bits like brake pads and ride.
Welcome to the site.
