Early American Classic Bill Shook carbon seatpost?

As it appears that I have not posted on these forums in several weeks, I thought I'd take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with other members in any one of the forums.

Any way - a question it is: I picked up this tasty seatpost a while ago and forgot about it. Now I'm thinking of using it to tart up a late 80's Stumpjumper and thought I'd see if anyone has any more info / an accurate date / or advice not to use it as it will surely implode and destroy me, my bike and any bystanders.

Looks like a prototype/sample American Classic. ~300mm and about 260g.

There is an interweb reference or two to Bill Shook designing some of the first carbon posts, but I can't find any real info. I seem to remember Tioga had some late 80's carbon stuff too. Pics:

I have a similar post from about 1991 that is labeled "A.R.R. Gordon Carbon Fiber." It looks very similar to your but does not have the hand-etched 27.2 size. I don't know much about the history of mine, but I've been using it on my CX bike for a several years without issue.

Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.
