    Durango Visit

I regret not having my camera with me, but visited Durango, CO this weekend and went into this shop: http://www.mountainbikespecialists.com. If you ever make it to Durango and you are into racing stuff this is the place.

They have 2 of Greg Herbold bikes hanging on display one full suspension, other is hardtail with disc wheel. Todd Wells GT from the 2004 Olympics, 2 of Julie Furtado's GT bikes - LTS 1 and Xiang, four of Ned Overends Specialzed racing bikes, autograghed jerseys framed from, Ned Overend, Julie Furtado, Tinker Juarez, John Tomac, Greg Herbold, Missy Giove, Lance Armstrong, Tom Danielson, Travis Brown, Greg Lemond, Davis Phinney, Eric Heiden, Bob Roll, Rishi Grewal, Miles Rockwell, and on and on. They also several of Julie Furtado's trophies from her Grundig World cups on display. It is an awesome sight!

    been there

Was there two years ago and its a cool shop. I bumped into the owner whilst doing the Hermosa Trail, he was riding up on his horse! Don't forget to do some riding!

Another recommended shop for old and retro stuff is in Salida - Absolute Bikes. Loads of fantastic old steeds and retro forks hanging from the ceiling. The owner collects or has kept hold of some older items from the day! Mean coffee shop as well. Again do the Monarch Trail near by!!

    Wished I could

Couldn't do the MTB race, they had it on Monday this year, and it is a 11 hour drive home and had to be to work on Tuesday - damn, cause it was a qualifier for Nationals. Pre-rode the course, 99% single track, really unusual these days! The start was instant single track, with river rock surface, up a very steep hill, pretty much better off running the first quarter mile - ouch! Old school racing on a tough course!

Ya, thats a hard course! I did that race 2 or 3 times and it was always stifling hot, making it even harder.
