    Disposables?

Assuming you want to build a functional, usable, enjoyable VRC bike (and not a time machine, museum bike), do you have a set of readily available disposables you routinely use or would recommend?

    Grips
    Brakepads
    Wires
    Tubes
    Tires
    Chain

    Thanks

Ritchey and WTB make "retro" looking grips.

For tires I try to use some that are a little older; the latest and greatest tires stand out. FFB sells repro Timbuk2 tires, and the Smoke/Dart tires are also being reproduced.

I have a stash of used (but not useless) chains in my parts bin. I generally sue them. Otherwise I'll go with a newer SRAM chain.

The rest of the stuff (tubes, housing, cables, brake pads) I'd use whatever the LBS is selling.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Grips - Oury. Personally I like Ergon grips - they help with my wrist aches and give much better control.

Pads - Kool Stop Eagle Claw salmon or the black/salmon.

Cables - Jagwire or Gore Ride-on

Other things that can be had are Ritchey tires and Grab-On grips both available from First Flight
