    Curtlo Custom S/N B0N0 (aka CL #2)

    This bike just screams Southern California custom mountain bike. The frame is fillet-brazed but unfiled. With the tight S-bend stays, there is excellent tire clearance. The headtube is 1-1/4" with a Curtlo treadless stem. The custom paint job is an orange undercoat that was wrapped in string and then sprayed with the tri-color fade. I believe this is the work of the painter "Shades" but it is signed "Bones."

    I only replaced the seat and pedals after cleaning this one up.

    My 93 has different stays, but also unfiled and Bones paint.

    Southern Calif. custom, indeed. Such a sweet bike, Double Century. I still remember all those sweet, orange Curtlos that the Outer Circle Racing team rode. My '98 Curtlo has different stays. It's such a sweet bike that it has ruined other mountainbikes for me.

    It is a fun bike, but might be described in one word as "stout" with all of the oversized tubes. I rode it first with the dead Manitou and that was actually more fun in many ways than the more functional White Bros. fork because the head angle was steeper and made the handling lively.

    Curtlos are definitely underappreciated, especially when you consider that Doug is still building.

    Agreed on Curtlo. Under-appreciated and really quite affordable even for custom.

    Nice looking rebuild! The more staid style counterbalances the wild paint nicely. I'd love to see more pics if/when you have 'em.
