can you identify my Ritchey frame please
hi everyone i have a old steel mountain bike frame with the Ritchey logo stamped into the rear dropouts and i was wondering if any one could tell me which actual model it was and maybe when it was made
-
Unless I'm completely mistaken, Ritchey never made a frame with a top tube extension behind the seat tube.
Many MANY other manufacturers bikes were made with Ritchey dropouts, as your bike has.

I have an old 1992 GT avalanche where the top tube extends past the seat tube like that but the end cap is stamped "gt" and it of course has the triple triangle....don't think I have ever seen a GT with the protruding top tube but without the triple triangle. The mix of parts on it is certainly strange too.....a base model late 1990's Altus derailleur with what appears to be nicer avid v brakes?
Looking for/WTB : Grove Innovations Assault Fork, Grove Innovation Hammerhead Stem or Hothead Bar Stem

Looks like 1 1/8" headset too. Not that old - relatively, and not a Ritchey.

The early, pre-triple triangle GT mountain bikes had the top tube protrusion.
Don't know what this one is.

gotcha...when did GT introduce the triple triangle?

without looking it up, I'd guess 87-88.

I have an '88 GT catalog and all of the mid to high end bikes have the triple triangle. The lower end bikes have the older style top tube (where the TT extends through the seat tube and the stays connect to the TT behind the seat tube). So the triple triangle existed since at least the '88 model year.
The Rithcey drop outs used on the frame pictured came out in the mid '90s. That frame is probably form the late '90s or 2000's.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

This old GT looks different.

It's a Focus. Ritchey stamped dropouts were available to many frame builders.
-
Yep, not Ritchey. But you should take the bike apart and inspect it to make sure they didn't hide the real brand name somewhere else on the bike.

Did you even bother to read the thread you posted in?

LOL!

Really, it could be anywhere. They wrote FOCUS so you don't give up. I don't know what Highland Peak means though.

That's a weird serial number. What else can you tell us? Where did you buy it from (geographically)? What was the story?

Haven't bought it yet. Just doesn't add up so thought I'd check.
